On 3 April 2020 and in agreement with the President of the Government of Catalonia, the Catalan Minister of Business and Knowledge and the rectors of the other Catalan universities, the Rector of the Universitat de Barcelona decided to suspend all second-semester face-to-face teaching activities until the end of the academic year. For this reason, our university's teaching staff may need to make certain changes to the course plans of the subjects they teach, so that they can teach subjects online. When and where such changes are made, they will be explained in a new appendix attached to the end of the original course plan.

At the end of the course, students will be able to:

— Understand the ethical implications of doing business in a global context.

— Promote ethical and responsible thinking in the international business framework.

— Articulate different CSR actions and strategies for the international activities of a company.

Students are also expected to develop social awareness, critical thinking and groupwork skills.

Teaching methods and general organization


The subject methodology combines lectures to introduce theoretical concepts with more practical sessions based on group work, problem-solving exercises and case studies.



Official assessment of learning outcomes


This assessment procedure requires regular attendance and submission of assignments.

The final grade is based on the following:

— Assignment 1: 20%

— Assignment 2: 20%

— Class participation and activities: 20%

— Final project (written assignment): 40%

The characteristics of the assignments and the final project are presented at the beginning of the course.

Repeat assessment

Both in continuos and single assessment, students who do not obtain a minimum grade of 5 must submit a revision of their final project (100% of the grade).


Examination-based assessment

This assessment procedure is designed for those students that cannot attend classes regularly or submit the assignments.

Students may chose to be assessed under single assessment only if that they are not able to attend at least 70% of the lectures.

In this case, the final grade is based on the following:

— Final project (written assignment): 100%

Repeat assessment

Both in continuos and single assessment, students who do not obtain a minimum grade of 5 must submit a revision of their final project (100% of the grade).







Teaching blocks: no changes

Teaching methods and general organization: on the top of the face-to-face methods, a few changes have been included:

  • Reading of documents during class time;
  • Short assignments on the topics included in each lecture (two assignments per lecture);
  • Online debates through the chat of the Virtual Campus and Zoom;
  • Presentations of the final projects through Skype.
