Learning objectives


Referring to knowledge

— Know the steps to follow to conduct a survey.

— Know how to write a project to conduct a survey, including objectives, methodology, study phases, timeline, budget, etc.

— Understand the technical documentation of a survey, and prepare a new one based on the characteristics of the survey, sample and population.

— Know how to prepare a questionnaire to collect information based on the intended objectives.

— Know how to formulate correctly the questions to include on the questionnaire, and how to assess the strength of each question and the type of response category.

— Write questions on different measurement scales, as well as open-ended questions.

— Know the basics of sampling theory.

— Plan fieldwork and assign tasks to interviewers.

— Carry out real fieldwork and evaluate the experience.

— Codify the responses to the different types of question, enter the data in a computerised system and statistically analyse the data.

— Design, structure and draft a report of the survey results, as well as the conclusions and present the report publicly.

— Learn to identify and pose a problem in terms that allow it to be solved. Learn how to search for information.

— Learn to work in groups, negotiate, listen, and be assertive expressing one’s opinions.

— Learn to plan an activity and prioritize important issues.

— Learn to analyse (isolate the parts of a problem and treat them individually) and synthesize (extract the most relevant information and obtain an overview).

— Learn to use the SPSS statistical program, commonly used in social research.

— Learn how to design, structure, and write a report of results for a client. Learn to deal with a customer and sell the product.

— Acquire notions of public speaking, communication and how to make an oral presentation.
