Learning objectives

 

Referring to knowledge

— Explain the factors that have most influenced the development of the Spanish economy in the different directions it has taken. Discuss the most important features of the Spanish economy, the challenges it faces and the institutions that drive it.

 

Specifically, students examine:
— the basic features of different stages in the development of the economy, from the 1960s to the present day;

— the current state of the economy;

— the factors that most influence economic growth;

— the factors that make the economy competitive;

— the changes in the productive structure of the economy in recent years, and the most important features of the main economic sectors;

— the most important aspects of the corporate community;

— the main features of the labour market and the factors that explain them;

— the restructuring of the banking sector and the current situation.

Referring to abilities, skills

Using this knowledge, students will be able to:
— identify the economic measures and indicators that are most important for the Spanish economy and explain how they have changed in the course of history;

— analyse variables and distinguish between real and nominal values;

— identify and interpret macroeconomic frameworks;

— analyse the factors conditioning Spanish economic growth and identify the results in a summary form;

— relate the variables productivity, competitiveness, employment and relative price within different sectors;

— identify the basic measures of labour market activity;

— explain how the Spanish banking system operates and is regulated.
