Official assessment of learning outcomes

Assessment is designed to demonstrate that students have developed the competences and objectives as set out in this course plan. Students can opt for one of two modes of assessment: continuous or single.

Continuous assessment

Continuous assessment involves weekly engagement with the course and the completion of various activities throughout the semester. Students obtain marks for these assessed tasks.

Details of these tasks and their assessment criteria are provided at the start of the course via the Virtual Campus.

To pass the continuous mode of assessment, students must obtain at least a 5 on these assessed tasks. These tasks include both group and individual assignments.

Additional conditions for continuous assessment:

  • Submission of the first activity or practical exercise is deemed to indicate the student’s decision to opt for the continuous mode of assessment.
  • Students must attend at least 70% of the scheduled sessions on campus.

Examination-based assessment

Students who opt for the single mode of assessment must sit an exam that accounts for 100% of the final grade. The examination may include multiple-choice questions, short-answer questions, or practical exercises.

Repeat assessment

Repeat assessment consists of an examination covering the full content of the course. It follows the same format as that of the exam for the single mode of assessment.
