Official assessment of learning outcomes

Students are required to demonstrate that they have achieved the learning outcomes of the course and completed the required activities. For students opting for the continuous mode of assessment, regular attendance is compulsory, with a minimum requirement of 80% of all scheduled classes. Assessment is based on the evaluation of the specific components described below for each part of the course.

In the first part, covering the general theoretical and practical content, a final test is set covering the subject’s thematic blocks, accounting for 40% of the final grade. Exercises carried out in class or via the Virtual Campus contribute an additional 10% of the final grade.

In the second part, the oral and written presentation of the group research/activity/service-learning (ApS) project is evaluated. This accounts for 50% of the final grade. This component is assessed continuously through the aggregation of various interim marks: a) observations and notes made during tutorial sessions; b) oral presentation; c) submission of a brief written report.

Examination-based assessment

Students may opt for the single mode of assessment. This consists of a final exam accounting for 100% of the final grade, evaluating students’ ability to synthesise knowledge and relate concepts across the course.

The readings and content assessed in the exam are drawn from the course’s general and thematic bibliography. Students are encouraged to attend a tutorial to discuss the key readings in greater detail.

Repeat assessment

Students who fail the course (whether opting for the continuous or single mode of assessment) are entitled to be re-evaluated. This resit adheres to the same format as that of the single mode of assessment.
