The mode of assessment chosen may depend on the entry level of the student, and the decision should be made by the student following this basic structure:

— First test: grammar and oral communication (30%).

— Second examination (end of semester): grammar, oral and reading comprehension, oral expression, written communication (50%).

— Written course exercises (15%).

— Face-to-face and online participation, computer exercises, weekend activities (5%).

To be eligible for the continuous mode of assessment, students must attend at least 80% of the classes. In any other circumstances, the student and instructor should confer to decide together on the most suitable way to proceed.

Repeat assessment for students opting for continuous assessment

Students who fail the continuous mode of course assessment are eligible for repeat assessment. The content, procedures, and evaluation criteria are the same as those used in the single assessment format.

Examination-based assessment

Students who opt for single assessment sit a final examination covering the entire content of the course. The examination tests grammar, oral and reading comprehension, and oral and written communication.
